Experience

Originally from London, I lived and worked in Singapore November 2011 until March 2020. During that time I’ve:

  • Worked at a start-up company, Music Education Asia (now 1HubMedia), focused on improving music education in Asia. This involved the planning and delivery of a 4-day conference and exhibition, as well as online and offline marketing, website management, liaison with speakers, sponsors and exhibitors, and production and logistics.
  • Supported a Singapore-based non-profit, Shujog, to plan and deliver their Impact Forum – global conference on Impact Investing, bringing together investors, social enterprises, non-profits, NGOs and researchers.
  • Worked with a Singapore-based social enterprise, Empact, where I led their marketing and communications activities, and launched their first series of events ‘Redefining Community Giving’. The series included a conference, practical workshops and a government round-table.

After that, I set up my own sole-proprietorship, GSD Consulting, in July 2015 and since then I’ve worked with:

  • buUuk – a design and development company, based in Singapore, who produce beautiful mobile apps and solutions. I’ve been in charge of setting up their company blog, writing and delivering content and growing their readership. I’ve supported them copy-writing for their website.
  • Greyloft – a start-up property agent, who are seeking to shake up the very traditional Singapore property market, by providing a smarter online experience and great offline customer service. I was in charge of business development, including marketing, PR and press, and content writing for the company blog.
  • Global Initiatives – a communications and events company that promotes partnership solutions to global challenges through film, international events and media projects. I worked with them to deliver their ‘Responsible Business Forum on Sustainable Development’ in Singapore and the ‘Responsible Business Forum on Food and Agriculture’ in Jakarta. This involved developing the event programmes, and all speaker recruitment, briefing and liaison.

I’m now happily back in the UK.

Before I moved to Singapore, I worked with:

  • Innovation Unit – a UK based non-profit social enterprise, who work closely with the public sector to deliver innovative, change management solutions. Innovation Unit was previously part of the Department for Education and Skills. At the Innovation Unit, I initially joined as a PA and Office Manager, before being promoted to Project Manager, where I worked on a number of different projects in the health and education sectors.
